Marcos Fis becomes the youngest 'Nexus Energía MVP of the season' in history

Marcos Fis became this Wednesday the youngest 'Nexus Energía MVP of the 2025/2026 season' in history after winning the final selection process, which included the candidacy of the seven field players of the 'All Star ASOBAL' (best left wing, left back, center, right back, right wing, pivot, and goalkeeper) and the votes of captains, coaches, and top executives of ASOBAL clubs.

The right back of Fraikin BM. Granollers, 19 years old, definitively closes his debut year in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL by breaking all records, establishing himself as a generational talent and leaving an indelible mark on Spanish professional handball. A first chapter of exceptional legacy, which includes the great individual sports award of the year and, also for the first time in history, three awards from the same edition of the 'All Star ASOBAL'.

Never before had such a young debutant been able to shape the narrative of the professional competition with such force, knowing how to adapt and evolve under the enormous equality of the ASOBAL calendar from the first match, which he closed with 10 goals against Cajasol Ángel Ximénez Puente Genil. A perfect synergy with a legendary final act. Marcos Fis has evolved to the point of playing quality minutes at right back and center of the first line, forming a left-handed duo with Pablo Urdangarín, becoming an increasingly complete goal threat, combining his ability to score from beyond 9 meters and a top-level one-on-one imbalance.

He has shone with consistency as his first great achievement, accumulating records and leadership capacity on the court, finishing third in the top scorers ranking of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL with 164 goals and an average of almost 6 per game, without missing a single call-up from Antonio Rama and Antonio García at Fraikin BM. Granollers. His performance led him to earn the MVP of the Matchday, to be part of the 'Ideal 7 of the Matchday', and to be the first ASOBAL handball player to win two 'Nexus Energía MVP' monthly awards in the same campaign. All this to end up as the best right back, the breakthrough player, and finally, the 'Nexus Energía MVP of the 2025/2026 season'.

Performance and recognitions from the first match

The blanc-i-blau scorer has made a place among the best players of the season as a member of the 'All Star ASOBAL' 25/26, which included professional handball idols such as Xoan Ledo (best goalkeeper, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja), Ludovic Fàbregas (best defender, Barça), Jakub Prokop (best left back, Bathco BM. Torrelavega), Álvaro Preciado (best center, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja), Dani Fernández (best left wing, Barça), Gonzalo Pérez Arce (best right wing, ABANCA Ademar León), Álvaro Martínez (best pivot, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja), and Miguel Ángel Velasco (best coach, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja).

Fis built his status as the most valuable player of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL from the first month of competition. He first won the 'Nexus Energía MVP' of October, being the second top scorer of that professional competition stretch with 44 goals and an average of 6.29 per game, key to keeping his team co-leader with the same points record as Barça. A performance that was maintained throughout the season and earned him the second 'Nexus Energía MVP' recognition in May.

The Fraikin BM. Granollers player was the most in-form player of the last four matchdays of the season. Top scorer, with a total of 28 goals excluding seven-meter throws and a 78% effectiveness rate, as well as distributing 9 assists. His figures translated directly into the collective realm, being key in securing his team's third place, which completed the podium of the best teams of the season and qualified for the next European campaign. Individual statistics at the service of the team for one of the most spectacular individual performances in the history of the professional competition.
