The youngest MVP Nexus Energía of the season, the first to earn two best player of the month awards and the only one to win three awards in a single edition of the ?All Star? segment in the history of ASOBAL handball. Marcos Fis has managed to gather a collection of recognitions that contextualize his 25/26 debut season in the professional competition, defying many predictions and breaking records at a goal-scoring pace with the Fraikin BM. Granollers jersey. Ten months of one of the great sports stories in the recent history of the ASOBAL brand, which has just written its first chapter.

?All this that is happening, the MVP, the awards, has been a big surprise because I did not expect it at all. At the start of the season, I couldn?t even imagine it. I had just arrived and it?s never easy to debut; I didn?t know how things would go. It?s true that seeing my performance and how everything has gone, I understood that I could be among the candidates for best right back or breakthrough player. There have been many very good players throughout the season. The MVP was a surprise and I?m very happy,? Marcos Fis explains to ASOBAL, verbalizing his particular process of normalizing a trophy case that promises to grow year after year. ?What I value most or what has made me happiest is the recognition from all my friends and family, who know how much I have worked to be here today. They have congratulated me a lot because they fully trust me. I?m proud of myself. I try to improve day by day, develop my game, help the team. The awards, if they come, are a bonus,? says the right back, who is enjoying a brief rest before starting a new preseason under Antonio Rama?s orders.

Fis, already 19 years old, practically landed straight into the dynamics of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL. He arrived at the Palau d?Esports later than his new teammates after first ascending to the elite of Spanish men?s club handball with BM. Caserío Ciudad Real and then winning the silver medal with the Spanish youth national team at the Egypt World Championship?he scored 9 goals in the final?leaving little time to work and adapt to the pace of Fraikin BM. Granollers. A very brief, rushed preseason, laying the competitive foundations of the season driven by instinct, enthusiasm, and work ethic. ?I?ve had a very good adaptation because I?ve understood very well with my teammates and the technical staff from day one. They gave me a lot of confidence and that showed on the court,? comments Fis, who despite the string of circumstances, made a debut against Cajasol Ángel Ximénez Puente Genil with 10 goals, earning the first MVP of the matchday of the season and being part of the ?ideal 7? of that ASOBAL weekend.

The ASOBAL competitiveness to be the best player

The Spanish senior international has experienced every milestone with calm and self-criticism, aware of his moment?both personal and sporting?to carve out a place among the top scorers of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL and start leaving his mark on the national circuit. He does not feel pressure and acts with genuine normality, more comfortable with a ball in his hands, deciding the final action of a key match in the season, as happened at Artaleku against IRUDEK Bidasoa de Irun. Always within the framework of debuting on the big stages of professional handball, with all that entails.

?Beyond the good moments, the hardest part has been maintaining consistency in my play, because being such a competitive and long league, sometimes you have small dips. I know I have to work on that; it?s one of my goals to minimize them. I have managed these moments calmly. I talked about it with my parents once; my father has a lot of experience in these kinds of situations, having been a professional for many years. Everyone told me to take it easy, keep working at my best, and that at some point things would come back around. That?s how I?ve done it. I also need to gain weight, which is something I have to improve,? he says, from a place of calm and a natural growth process in his debut season in Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL, citing Julio Fis, one of the many legends of the ASOBAL ecosystem.

The Fraikin BM. Granollers player emphasizes the context of maximum demand and equality that defines the current professional competition and has been a stimulus to take a step further as a top-level player, always alongside the routine of the blanc-i-blau team. ?Competing in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL has made me evolve as a player. Training every day with my teammates, who are so good, and also facing people of that level has made me improve, develop my game day by day, learn new things,? he explains, going beyond his goal-scoring facet. ?Opponents have gotten to know me better as the season has gone on, and it?s true that some defenses have tended to close in more on me. I don?t think that?s necessarily bad because it creates more space for my teammates. I think I?ve been able to find the wings and Adri well, especially in the second half of the season,? he adds.

The ASOBAL competitiveness to be the best player

Marcos Fis has shown the qualities of a franchise player but observes and learns. He has had to discover and savor on the fly the dynamics of ASOBAL handball, the sporting structure of professional handball, and its demands?a constant that enriches an official calendar that leaves no room for guesswork on paper. ?It?s a competition that forces you to always be very solid. One matchday you can have a good game at home and the next you visit the court of a rival who is supposedly weaker. Well, you can?t lower your level; you have to focus on getting the two points. There are great players. Two that come to mind now are Álvaro Preciado and Gorka Nieto, who have surprised me by how decisive they are with their teams. I?ve also been surprised by how teams that are supposedly at the bottom of the standings are able to play and compete, especially at home. That connection with their fans, the atmosphere, with arenas almost always full, makes it very difficult to win. It?s a great experience. If you don?t finish off a match, anyone and at any moment can complicate things for you. That has happened to us several times this year, even playing at home,? comments the MVP Nexus Energía of the season, highlighting the product of the professional competition and the live experience of the ?ASOBAL Community.?

That combination that so well defines the competition, which this year again set a record attendance figure in arenas, drives Fis and the young talents of the circuit, directly linking them to the moving legacy of the ASOBAL brand. Current idols who expand their margins to eventually become references in international handball, under already established umbrellas such as the ?All Star ASOBAL? or the ?Hall of Fame? of legends of the professional competition. ?I think it?s too early to set that as a goal, but I am clear that having a great career in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL and following in my father?s footsteps would be something very beautiful. I will work to achieve it,? says the blanc-i-blau ?11?, who is already loading his 2.0 version for the 2026/2027 season.
