Miguel Ángel Velasco becomes part of the 'All Star ASOBAL' as the best coach of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 2025/2026, prevailing in the penultimate category of the Spanish professional handball sports excellence awards. The coach rounds off his spectacular season at the helm of Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja by achieving for the first time the status of 'All Star' after the global voting process, divided between the popular phase (40%), the decision of the leaders, coaches, and captains of the professional competition teams (40%), and the specialized press (20%).

The former player has also been the coach who received the most support (33.69%) ahead of Santi Urdiales (BM. Caserío Ciudad Real, 22.34%) and Carlos Ortega (Barça, 20.75%), who complete the podium. An award for a career in constant growth within the framework of maximum equality in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL, which this season culminated with the conquest of the professional competition runner-up title.

Velasco has been able to build a solid tactical proposal, ensuring performance in his own half, with goalkeeping as one of his differential elements, and with a wide range of resources to find the path to goal against the rival defense. His Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja closed the season with the third-best goal difference figure in the entire circuit and the fourth-best figures for goals scored and goals conceded. A complex balance to achieve that has supported the team from the Palacio de los Deportes de la Rioja at all times, regardless of the trio of absences.

The contribution and work on game definition by Miguel Ángel Velasco has also enhanced the individual aspect of his squad, achieving in most cases the best version of his players on the ASOBAL handball courts. As a result, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja has been the team with the most nominations (8) and most awards (4, with Xoan Ledo, Álvaro Preciado, Álvaro Mártinez, and Miguel Ángel Velasco) in the 'All Star ASOBAL' from the professional competition.

The Riojan coach earns the distinction of coach of the ideal team of the 2025/2026 season, which already includes Xoan Ledo (best goalkeeper, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja), Ludovic Fàbregas (best defender, Barça), Jakub Prokop (best left back, Bathco BM. Torrelavega), Marcos Fis (best right back, Fraikin BM. Granollers), Álvaro Preciado (best center back, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja), Dani Fernández (best left wing, Barça), Gonzalo Pérez Arce (best right wing, ABANCA Ademar León), and Álvaro Martínez (best pivot, Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja).
