The Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL closes the 36th edition of the championship with the best attendance records of the last decade, consolidating a growth trend that goes beyond purely sporting aspects and strengthens the competition's positioning in terms of fan connection, matchday experience, and the value of the ASOBAL product.

A total of 395,780 spectators have accompanied the ASOBAL clubs throughout the 2025/26 season, making this edition the one with the highest attendance since the 2012/13 campaign. The average attendance, standing at 1,649 spectators per match, reflects the positive trend of a competition that continues to expand its reach and consolidate sustained growth in recent seasons.

The evolution of attendance takes on an even greater dimension when analyzing the trajectory started in the 2022/23 season (296,500 spectators), the season prior to the official recognition of the competition as professional. Since then, the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL has added 100,000 additional spectators to its arenas, an indicator that evidences the consolidation of the Spanish professional handball project and its progressive integration within the sports ecosystem.

From major events to regularity in the stands

Fan response has accompanied the competition throughout the season, combining record figures with remarkable regularity in the arenas. The matches between BM. Caserío Ciudad Real and Barça (5,514 spectators) and Fraikin BM. Granollers and Barça (5,350) allowed two matches with over 5,000 attendees in the same edition, a feat not seen since the 2012/13 campaign.

Beyond these milestones, audience growth is supported by the clubs' ability to activate and retain their communities matchday after matchday, reinforcing the territorial and social roots of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL.

In this context, BM. Caserío Ciudad Real leads the accumulated attendance of the 2025/26 season with 52,717 spectators and an average of 3,514 per game, being the only club to surpass the historic barrier of 50,000 attendees at its arena, demonstrating the social project developed by the club after bringing ASOBAL handball back to the province of Ciudad Real with its sporting promotion to the professional competition last season.

Alongside the Castilian-Manchegan team stand out Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda (35,600 accumulated spectators), ABANCA Ademar León (34,250), Frigoríficos del Morrazo (33,450), and Recoletas Atlético Valladolid (30,116) in the accumulated attendance ranking. Special mention goes to Tubos Villa de Aranda and Frigoríficos del Morrazo, who also repeat among the five teams with the highest occupancy rates in their arenas, with 89.2% and 84.2% averages, respectively, in the 2025/26 campaign.

Matchday experience as the axis of the profesional competition's growth

The figures in the stands also reflect the strategy promoted by ASOBAL and its clubs to strengthen the bond with fans and enrich the matchday experience. Throughout the season, various activations have been carried out around key calendar matches, such as ‘El Gran Derbi’ in Catalonia, the special activation in León marking the end of the first half before the Christmas break, the ‘Energy Match’ in Logroño, the celebration of Barça’s league title, and the season finale in Granollers.

These initiatives reflect a shared vision aimed at increasing the competition’s value beyond the growing competitiveness on the court, consolidating the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL as an increasingly comprehensive sports entertainment offering.
